How to Know If You Have a Problem — Recognizing Addiction in Yourself

    By Caleb Billings
    Share:

One of addiction's most powerful tools is denial. It whispers, 'You don't have a problem. You can stop whenever you want. Everyone does this.'

But deep down, many people know the truth. If you're reading this article, part of you already knows.

Ask yourself: Do I use more than I intend to? Have I tried to cut back and failed? Do I hide my use from people I love? Has my use caused problems in my relationships, work, or health? Do I feel anxious or irritable when I can't use?

If you answered yes to any of these, you may have a problem. And that's okay — because recognizing the problem is the first step toward the solution.
