The Power of Community in Recovery

    Share:

Addiction thrives in isolation. Recovery thrives in community. This is one of the fundamental truths that drives everything The Mulligan Mission does.

Hebrews 10:24-25 says, 'And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.' Community is not optional for the Christian — and it's essential for recovery.

Community provides accountability — someone who asks how you're really doing and doesn't accept 'fine' as an answer. It provides encouragement when the road gets hard. It provides belonging when addiction has left you feeling isolated and ashamed.

This is why our golf fellowship events are so powerful. A round of golf creates 4-5 hours of natural conversation in a beautiful, relaxed setting. Walls come down. Honesty flows. Friendships form. The gospel is shared.

If you're in recovery, don't try to do it alone. Find a church, join a small group, connect with a mentor, and attend a Mulligan Mission event. You were not created for isolation — you were created for community.
